Online speed dating original

I just got an AWESOME call from someone who attended last nights Virtual Online Speed Dating beta test last night. She told me exactly what I had hoped to hear. Here is the jist of our conversation.

• Melissa: I just wanted to thank you for last night. It was fun and I loved the different format!
  
• Jay: Thanks so much, you made my day. May I ask a little more of what specifically you liked?
  
  
• Melissa: The format allowed us to get to know more about the featured person. I got to see more of what they are about. There was a guy at the event named Billy.  
  
  
• Melissa: Never in a million years would I have picked him if this was an in person speed dating. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the in person speed dating very much. However, some of the things that came out while Billy was featured, may not have come out in the traditional speed dating format. I got to observe some things and saw that we have some common interests and are looking for some of the same things.  

       Im so glad that we both picked each other and were a match!

The event will take place in a Virtual Room using the Zoom program (Zoom is a free download that is super easy to use).  The Coronavirus-COVID-19 can not get in the way of helping people to meet.

Why is it called Group Online Speed Dating and how else is it similar/different from Traditional Speed Dating:

Just like with traditional speed dating, at the end of the event you will be able to let us know who you were interested in.  We will send you both mutal matches (you picked them and they picked you) as well as one way matches (they picked you but you did not pick them).

With my Group format for Online Speed Dating, you would NOT be meeting people one on one, but it would be taking place in a group environment.   You would be in a virtual room with approximately 10-16 singles total  (up to 8 men and 8 women).  We would be featuring one person at a time, where the host (me-Jay) would be having a conversation with that person.


We would start out with the basics (e.g. Where are you from, what do you do), but then get into some questions that will bring out your likes and personality.  (Example might be:  Where is your favorite place that you have traveled or would like to visit)?

As we are talking, potential dates will be observing our interaction and learning more about you.  We will save some time at the end of the round for your potential dates to ask you questions as well.

NOTE:  While this conversation is going on, All particpants must still have their camera on.  If you need to go to the bathroom or something else quick, then that is fine.  Otherwise the observers need to also keep their camera on.

Lastly, if you have any specific topics you want me to discuss with you... while you are featured (topics that will bring out your personality), you can let me know and I will do my best to touch on them.  

Have you done Online Speed Dating before?
Yes and people really enjoyed the format!  It is certainly different than regular speed dating, but gave people the opportunity to meet other singles in a safe environment.

This format is meant to really bring out more of your personality beyond the just what do you do for fun, where do you work stuff.  (we do cover that basic stuff too though)

How many potential dates will be there?

The minimum number of potential dates will be 5 and the maximum will be about 9.  If for any reason there were less than 5 members of the opposite sex in attendance, you would get credit for a future Virtual event.

Where are people from?

Some events may be location specific and others may be open to a wider geography.  For example and event may be for all in NY Tristate area , while another may be NYC and a third be Long Island and Queens.  Please read the full event details on the events page that tells you.

How do I find the Virtual Room?

After you purchase your ticket, you will get a confirmation appear on your screen along with the zoom link for you to use to log in.
