Our very first Nassau County event took place at the Union Square Lounge back on Valentines Day 2003. The event took place in Merrick Long Island. Many years later, we have expanded to various parts of Long Island including Jericho, Woodbury, Massapequa, Great Neck and many more.
Nassau County Speed Dating was where it all began and we look forward to continue serving you.
Oh, lets talk a little bit about how we got started.Our original name back in the day was Long Island speed dating, because Long Island was the only place we initially did events. The events started out as a way to meet some new people and expand my own social cirlce (Im Jay by the way). I had gone to a bunch of NYC Speed Dating events, but nobody was doing them on Long Island. Furthermore, they were always on a Monday or Tuesday night! I said... What about Long Island? and why doesnt anyone do these events on Long Island? Hence, Long Island Speed Dating was born. I had a friend who owned Union Square Lounge and that is where I got my start.
Soon after, some magic started to happen because people were really meeting and forming relationships. Word of mouth is a very power tool and our Nassau County events started to grow. Fast forward to 2019, almost 2020 and I am proud to say that over 75 marriages have been a result of the events. How cool is that? I do some reunion events and get to reunite with the couples and many bring their kids!
Nassau County Venues
Here are a few tips if this will be your first time attending a Nassau County Speed Dating event. 1) Show up on time. We typically ask attendees to arrive 30 minutes prior to the actual start time of an event. The last thing you want to do is to walk in right when the event is getting started. It is advisable to arrive a little early so that you can settle in and relax into the environment. 2) Know that it will get better quickly and that you are not alone. It can be a little nerve racking walking into an event for the first time, but please remember that others are in the same exact boat as you. It really is like jumping into a cold pool of water. When you first walk in, the water is cold, but quicky warms up after a few minutes. The speed dating is the same way. It may seem a little awkward at first, but once people do a round or two, they quickly loosen up and relax and truly start to enjoy. |
Doing the events at this local towny bar gave me the confidence to experiment with a lot of trial and error and eventually I was approacing bigger and nicer venues who were happy to host them.
